Stop 7- Valencia Spain

We had been wanting to rent bikes and had heard that Valencia was very bike friendly-- and it was.  We ventured off the Cruiseship and walked to the bike rental place.  We were outfitted with our bikes and headed out.  Throughout much of Valencia were designated bike lanes and bike street lights.  It was awesome.
We wanted to go downtown and explore all the old town.  We made it down there with only a few hiccups.  Lets just say reading maps in Spanish in a city you don't know isnt the easiest thing to do.  It was fun to see lots of the city quickly.

One of our stops was El Mercado Central. It was a huge indoor market that had an assortment of colorful fruits and veggies, as well as some chances to gawk at the hanging fresh meats and seafood lining the stalls. It is considered one of the oldest European markets still running. We had some yummy bakery goods.

After the market we wanted to try out some local Paella (supposedly it is supposed to be the most famous and delicious of Valencia's food dishes).  I think we picked the wrong spot.  It was Not good.  And it took forever!  It cut into our bike riding time immensely. We were super bummed and after that I don't think that I am interested in trying good Paella.

After we did a little souvenir shopping we hopped back on our bikes, and went out to find the new "City of Arts and Sciences."  This place was so fun to ride our bikes around.

It was so unique, futuristic, and had stunning architecture of renowned architect Santiago Calatrava.  Such a fun day on bikes. It made me feel like a kid again.  Valencia was beautiful and would love to go back someday to see more of what it has to offer.
