Stop 3- Gibraltor (English Territory)

Here we are pulling into the Rock of Gibraltor.  We had to make sure to get a picture of 'the Rock.' Gibraltor itself is a British Territory so I can say I have been to England now right?! ;)

When first arriving started off the day by walking a good 15 minutes over to the 'Gibraltar Nature Reserve, Upper Rock.' After waiting in line for longer than I wanted to we got our tickets and took the cable car Up-- Up-- and Up to the top of the Rock.

Once at the top we were immediately welcomed by the Macaque monkeys we had heard so much about. They were everywhere. Def. not afraid of people, and could be aggressive.  We didn't want to get too close to them.

After getting a little taste of the macaques (although they were all over the Rock and every where we went), we headed out on our Trek to see what was on this mountain.  Our first stop was up to 'Oharas Battery Lookout.'  From here you could see over to Africa (if you look close in the background of the pic).

We next explored St. Michael's Caves, which is a series of Limestone caves.... The largest of the chambers, named the Cathedral Cave has been transformed into a auditorium. It has a concrete stage and has a seating capacity of over 100. Def. would have been cool to see something performed here.... although they do keep it entertaining by adding colorful lights all over.

Next up were the Great Siege Tunnels, which were an impressive defense system devised by man.Excavated during the Great Seige of 1779-1783, these tunnels were hewn into the rock with the aid of gunpowder and the simplest of tools.   There was a total of 300 meters of tunnels.

The Moorish Castle was a little more down the Rock.. and was around in 1333.
We did lots more walking exploring this place.. pretty sure we logged plenty of miles this day.  We ended the day by walking down through some of the locals living areas and then did some window shopping.  Of course when we saw a red telephone booth, I had to take a picture in it.  We were in England so we couldn't turn that down (were we not. haha?).  Another awesome day exploring all this world has to offer.
