Stop 4- Cadiz (Seville) Spain

We had heard that Seville Spain was a fun, pretty town that was worth checking out so at our Cadiz stop we booked a taxi and took a 1 1/2 hour ride out to explore beautiful Seville.  Totally worth it.  Lots to see and lots to explore.  Our taxi drivers we hired for the entire day and they just took us around to some of the many sites and tourist destinations.  Our first stop was some garden area. Lots of greenery and cool places to take pics.

Next up was one of my very favorite places, The Plaza de Espana. Although it was only built in 1928, the beauty and size made it such a fascinating place to see.  They had a little canal all around that you could rent boats and had horse drawn carriages all over.  Such a great atmosphere and beautiful fountain and buildings.

Our taxi driver was pretty cool. He spoke broken English and kept us somewhat informed on what was going on. At 1 point along the way, he pulled out his liter of Coke from his middle consule and got to chugging. Of course I had to get a picture.  :)
Next stop was the Seville Cathedral.  We had to wait in a decent size line but found it worth it to go inside.  The Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. The cathedral has 80 chapels, in which 500 masses were said daily as reported in 1896.

Christopher Columbus' burial spot was here in the inside. Adam may not look to excited about it, but it was def. a highlight for him on things seen in Seville.

We got to climb up to the bell tower aka the Giralda and enjoyed the views.

Our last stop before getting our Taxi was at the 'Real Alcazar.' It is a royal palace originally developed by Moorish Muslim kings to be used as a fort in the 10th century. It was then transformed into the palace in the 14th century. The palace is renowned as one of the most beautiful in Spain. The upper levels of the Alcázar are still used by the royal family as the official Seville residence and are administered by the Patrimonio Nacional. It is the oldest royal palace still in use in Europe.

The Alcazar had amazing gardens which we explored after checking out the inside.

We got back to Cadiz near the port in time to do just a little exploring in the town of Cadiz.  We walked down along the ocean and then stopped at the Cadiz Cathedral.
