Upon our arrival in Malaga we didn't have a whole lot of things planned. We were basically just going to wander and see what this old beach town had to offer. We started by exploring Old Town
Malaga is a former stomping ground for Picasso-- he was born here and spent some time here.. because of that there’s a creative streak running through the city. Huge murals, mosaic floors and eye-catching street art line the ancient streets. We wanted to check out the Picasso museum that was there so we went into a place that we were thinking was it.. we paid our money and much to our dismay it was not the museum... It was a little place that was where he was born. He had a couple pieces of his early sketchwork and that's it. We were pretty upset and not impressed at all. I guess that is what we get for not researching or asking more questions. Because we were so turned off and unimpressed with this place we made not effort to find the actual museum. oh well.
We next got into some of the historical stuff--- We went to the Castle of Gibralfaro from the 10th century that overlooked the entire city. They also had a Roman Amphitheater dating back to the 1st century.
We took a lot of pics once we got to the top. Gorgeous and you could see down on the Plaza de Toros (the bull fighting ring).
After seeing the bull fighting ring from above we thought we would walk down and see if we could go in it. We arrived 5 minutes before closing time so they let us peak in for free, take a picture and that's it. There was no bull fight that day--- we missed it just by a couple of days. Now that would have been cool.
On our walk back to the cruise ship we stopped at the beach, 'Playa de la Malagueta' and collected sea glass, sea shells, and skipped rocks. Fun day exploring Malaga!
