Bankok

When first getting into Bangkok we were a little nervous because we had heard on the news that their were big government protests going on in the city.  There had been people killed so we figured we would just avoid them if we needed to.... but it actually turned out that it was more like a party/festival type atmosphere.  Our hotel, The Park Plaza, was pretty close to his all so we walked right through the demonstrations a number of times and I never felt unsafe.  Here are a few pictures from the rallys.
They closed off a bunch of the main streets right downtown and people were camping, selling stuff, etc.

We saw this little concrete mixer truck and wanted to take a picture.
When we first arrived in Bangkok we headed down to the Tailor shop.. My Dad and Tyler had got suits from them 10 years ago so they thought it was time to get a few more because they liked them so much and they were a reasonable price.  This is us girls doing some street shopping as well--- we did lots and lots of street shopping.
Here is Adam checking out all the fabrics to choose from--- too many choices!
 Getting measured.....

Here we are waiting at the shop.  The guys at Gulati's were great!
Adam's suit turned out great and he looks pretty handsome in it. He also got a few shirts.

Our Next day in Bangkok Tyler, Erin, Adam and I went to find some breakfast on the street---(the oldies stayed at the fancy hotel for their breakfast).  We found a yummy and cheap place where we got a huge helping of the best Thai fried rice and Adam got an fried egg on top.  It may look a little sketchy but it was great.  The best part was that the 2nd morning we walked up to the lady and she remembered exactly what we had ordered.  :)

After breakfast, Troy and Cathy (2 Local Thais that Tyler had taught back when he was on his mission) met us at our hotel with a big van. We all crammed in and headed out to tour some temples and different sites.  Our first stop was the "Bang Pa-In Palace: King's Summer Palace"

 Here is Troy.

The bushes were in the shapes of elephants.

Cute Thai school kids on a field trip.

I was one of the lucky ones that got to be interviewed by some of the school kids.  I don't think that they understand most of what I was saying. It was a fun experience though.
We saw lots and lots of Buddhas.
 Marci and Karma
Royden, Diane, Marci, Adam, and Troy

Our next stop was the "Wat Yai Chaya Mongkol" It was a pretty cool place and had a HUGE lying Buddha.

We then headed to lunch at a floating market, shopping place. They had this really random show going on about the history of Thailand and the people: at least I think it was something like that. It was crazy weird.

Next up was "Ayutthaya Historical Park" It was a bunch of old ruins.

Our final stop for the day was dinner. Troy and Cathy took us to a place that they like. We got to try ALOT of different Thai foods. Most of it was pretty good (a few not so good).  Cathy just kept ordering and ordering and ordering food. We ate so much and of course had to end it with Ice Cream.
 Before we got our food......

 and During..... getting stuffed.

Another successful day!

Our next day in Bangkok began with a ride on the Subway...
Then we had to take a tuk-tuk.  At least for the experience.  It started with Adam and I for the picture but then squeezed in Tyler and Erin.   Roy, Diane, Sheldon, and Karma were all squished in another one.  It was quite the site to see.

Our tuk tuks took us to the "Baiyoke Sky Hotel" which is Thailand's tallest Tower.  This is Erin and I out front....

Inside the tower being cheesy tourists.
We took the elevator to the top and then had a whole bunch of weird and fun places to take pictures of.  Adam and I decided to be a Thai Warrior and Princess.  A little creepy yes.

They also had a great look out windows so we could see the whole city.

We then went up a little more and went to the moving skydeck.  It was nice because you could just stand there and it would rotate so you could get a great look at all directions of the city.

We also did lots and lots of shopping here.  In bangkok it was street after street of random little shops crammed into buildings and along the streets.

Next up was our adventure on the train to Chaing Mai.
