Our pre-Christmas December activites started out with Christmas Decorations. Cade was pretty excited about Nana's Gingerbread friend. He gave her plenty of kisses. Norah also had fun doing lots of Christmas work at pre-school along with having a Polar Express day. Cade was as busy as ever and one day during naptime I heard him playing in there so went in to check on him and sure enough he had been playing--- def no napping had been going on. He had made his mattress fall to the ground, had ripped off the camera cord from the wall, and pooped his pants. Of course when I walked in he had the biggest smile on his face. Grandma went to Vegas to pick up Grandpa's new car so they made a quick stop to say hi. We always love hugs and loves from Grandma.
Starting on December 1st, we joined in with other Church members worldwide and participated in the 'Light the World' initiative. Each day we read about something that Christ did to serve others and then we tried to do something to serve others. One particular day we went to Walmart and the kids each got $10 to buy a gift for someone in need. Norah was so excited about her pick of a baby in a baby carrier..... She carried it around so proudly until she was able to give it to the people collecting the gifts. Santa was also walking around Walmart so we got to see him.... Cade was not to happy about it and wanted to keep his distance.
One evening Pops invited Lincoln and Norah to get bundled up and he was going to take them out to 3 mile on the rhino. The checked out the petroglyphs and had fun exploring with Pops and one of Pop's friend that was visiting.
For one of our FHE's we went to the temple to see the lights, the nativity, and into the Visitors Center. It was a favorite as always.
It had been a warm winter so the leaves from our trees did not fall until Mid-december. It was insane. The kids finally got to help rake and play in the big piles. Luckily we had a few cold days when all the leaves came down. Lincoln loved the cold mornings when the trees were 'raining' leaves all over the place. Lincoln also thought he was big time when Dad let him use the leaf blower for a minute.
We made real gingerbread cookies and had a great time decorating them.
We visited Santa down the street at Frei's Fruit Stand. Again Cade was freaked out.
We had our annual Wittwer Christmas party and Nativity--- Loved it--- always so comical and enjoyable. It is so great to see all the kids dressed up doing their very best and showing their little personalities. Let's just say it was was pretty chaos keeping all those kids 9 and under under control. We also had a talent show where the kids could do something for everyone. Lincoln played his Bells--- Norah sang Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Lincoln received a Science experiment kit from Claire and so we have been busy doing all kinds of mixing and creating potions.
We made it out to Tuacahn for their Live Nativity..... and then had another visit with Santa. 3rd time was not the charm for Cade... he still did not want anything to do with getting anywhere near Santa.
We had a fun month seeing where Troy the Elf would be each day. He mostly just moved around the rooms making sure he could keep an eye on us all. Cade got a little excited about him a few times and tried to get him. Luckily we were able to prevent anything from happening and Troy seemed ok. ;)
Lincoln had was so excited about his Kindergarten Polar Express Program. He learned his part ("The Polar Express Train came down the track."), made his train out of a cardboard box, and wore his pjs for the big production. He and the rest of his classmates did an awesome job. Lincoln did his part perfectly and sang perfect on all his songs. We love his teacher Mrs. Davis. She did a great time getting the kids ready to perform and to make the Christmas season a magical one for the kids.
A couple of days before Christmas we got our Gingerbread houses and decorated them. Everyone got their own little house and decorated however they wanted. Lincoln had order and a plan, Norah loaded her red garden and house with as much as she could possible fit on and Cade was too busy shoving his mouth full of the candy that none ended up on the house.
-The week days before Christmas we drove up to South Jordan for our Butterfield Christmas party and to meet our newest little niece, Lyla Grace Winn. We went up to Logan for a day. We went to dinner at Firehouse pizza with Brian and Julie and their kids one night and then we made sure to spend sometime with little Lyla loving her and giving her kisses. The kids of course loved playing with their cousins. The Butterfield party was the next day! We had a delish dinner, a program with talents (Lincoln sang one of his songs from his Polar Express Kindergarten program and played Jingle Bells on his bells, Norah sang a made up song of hers. 'so so so'. and Cade danced around and showed off the entire time). Grandma had a great Nativity that the kids were eating up. They sure love their Grandma. After the program we had presents! It was a fun and successful party- even with all it's craziness. We drove home on the 23rd to avoid a big snowstorm and to be home for Christmas. The holidays are so fun with kids and the excitement that they bring to everything makes everything so fun.
