This woman- Someone I admire so much. She was a woman of Faith, Love, Kindness, everything I wanted to be. I loved to listen to her stories of growing up in Orderville. So many memories of sitting on the couches in their family room just visiting. Grandma visits were the very best and will be missed dearly. What a posterity she left, so grateful to be part of it and to have been able to call her Grandma.
She worked so hard to take care of Grandpa all those last few years. Even though it was a struggle for a long time, her example of serving grandpa will always touch me.
The Wittwer Clan
All the posterity that was there at the funeral.
So many hugs and tears and smiles.
Claire, Rylee, and Norah admiring the beautiful flowers--- FLOWERS and GARDENING. Something that will always remind me of my Grandma. So much beauty in her life.
Here we are at the viewing the night before.
Memories of Grandma and Grandpa that Adam and Marci wrote to them for their 70th wedding anniversary.....
MARCIS- "I love you both and appreciate the light that you have always been to me in my life. Your desire for adventure and travel and example of love, commitment, and endurance will always be with me. Thank you for loving me and my little family. My memories of you continue to grow but wanted to share just a few.
-As a young girl sitting around their kitchen bar on the stools, spinning around while eating the pecans that Grandpa had so faithfully spent hours cracking.
-Throughout my growing up years, when we went over for a visit, Grandma always made sure we had toast with butter, of course the bread used was homemade and the BEST!
- As a teenager I loved going to your fridge and looking over all the state magnets from the states that you had visited. It gave me a greater desire to want to see the world, not be afraid of adventure and visit every state!
- I’ll never forget the time that Tyler, James and myself were being babysat overnight by Grandpa and Grandma at their house. We must have been pretty young, I was maybe 4 or 5? Being the rambunctious kids we were, we were running around the front room and into the kitchen. We probably had some sort of game going. Anyway, Tyler and I somehow ran up onto one Grandpa and Grandma’s old yellow chairs that they had in their family room and we managed to tip it over so the bottom was facing out/forward. James who is 2 years younger than me, must have been chasing right behind us because just as the chair tipped over, he ran smack into it cutting his head on the bottom sticks or gears. Blood and tears came gushing out. Tyler and I of course sat the chair up right and got James to Grandma as quick as we could. When she asked us what happened we acted clueless and said that we had no idea (although now being a parent myself, she probably had some idea 😉). James ended up having to get stitches in his forehead and to this day I still don’t know if Grandma knows the truth to what happened; how it was our fault and then we lied about it. Grateful for grandparents that loved and cared for us even when being naughty. Maybe this memory has stuck with me for so long because I still feel guilty about lying.
-My kids will always have memories of the marbles, putting toys or papers down the mail chute, Grandma’s pink and white cookies, and Grandpa standing at the door looking out and waving as we drive away."
ADAMS- "I really enjoyed the short time Marci and I lived in grandma and grandpa's basement. It was fun to catch grandma upstairs sometimes in the evenings and chat with her.
I remember that specific summer when we lived there, the Orlando Magic were playing the LA Lakers in the NBA finals. I thought it was so neat and fun that grandma would watch the games and even follow the players. We both wanted Orlando to win and back then we both liked Dwight Howard. Unfortunately the Lakers won that year.
Grandma was always so good to share fresh tomatoes out of her garden with me too. She knew I appreciated them. I treasure those few months we stayed there and the relationships we kindles then."
