7 lbs. 4 oz.     19 ¾ inches long

Pregnancy #4 was a lot different than my other pregnancies. Of course I had a lot of the same complaints 😉 but this time around things seemed to be a little worse.  I was pretty nauseous for the 1st 20 or so weeks and even after that up until probably 32-34 weeks I was still getting the sick to your stomach, I don’t want to make or eat much feeling.  It went on for way too long and I did lots of complaining.  Varicose veins and spider veins also became my new best/worst friends as my legs and feet got them really bad.  The aching and pains were on and off but they were sure ugly.  At my 36 week appointment the Dr. suspected that Baby was breech so we went and got an ultrasound to verify, and sure enough the little guy was head up. It had def. felt different the way I was carrying and the pressure wasn’t near as bad down low and I had much harder of a stomach up above. You could always feels his cute little head.  He was also super active! More active than any of my others.  I would say there were only a few times that I had to worry about any movement. He was constantly kicking, moving, and keeping busy.  Lincoln and Norah loved being able to feel him move all the time.  Because he was breech, at 38 weeks we scheduled an inversion. We had to go over to the hospital to Labor and Delivery, be on continuous monitoring, while Dr. Chalmers kind of massaged the baby around from Head up to Head down.  I had heard that it could be quite painful and not always successful, but we were willing to give it a try because if he stayed breech we were going to have to schedule a C-section- which we did not want.  Lucky for us and the skill of Dr. Chalmers things went perfect, not painful, and Damon was now in position for delivery.  Yay! So grateful for Doctors that are able to use their skills. After baby was flipped, it was all a waiting game.  We were thinking that he would still come a little early but Marci had thought pretty much the entire pregnancy that he was going to be a Halloween baby, which she did not want!  So day after day more waiting, at my 39 week appt, I was at a 3.5 and really could go anytime.  That was October 30th, so I was really just hoping to get through the 31st.  Halloween morning arrived and we enjoyed all the festivities of Halloween. Lincoln had his costume parade at school, I took Norah and Cade trick or treating over at the High School, in the evening, Adam took the kids all out trick or treating for a few hours while I stayed home passing out candy to all the trick or treaters that stopped by our house. I felt completely fine this entire time.  The kids got home, they sorted their candy, and got them all to bed.  At this point I was thinking that we were in the clear for having a Halloween baby. Yay!  It was at about 10:00 oclock when I started feeling some very light contractions.  Around 10:30, they were starting to be consistent but still not too hard.  Still at this point I wasn’t even sure that these were real contractions. I mentioned to Adam that the baby ‘might’ be coming here soon but still not sure.  At around 10:56 I texted Heidi wanting to just give her a warning in case this was real. I texted saying, “Heads up, baby may be coming tonight sometime tonight. Or not. 😊”  Still a little unsure.  But things started progressing super fast at this point. At 11:23 pm I texted Heidi again saying, “Ya I think you better come up now.”   So she came right up to watch the kids. Adam made sure that he ate some leftovers real quick before we headed to the hospital because he didn’t want to be hungry  😉 and then we were off to the hospital.  This baby was coming and he was coming quick. We made it to the hospital around 11:50 and got checked in. I was checked by the nurse and at a 4.5.  We weren’t in the triage room for long because they could see that things were progressing quickly…. And I knew it by the consistency and pain of the contractions. They called in Dr. Chalmers and let the Anesthesiologist know I was there. It was my luck that he was already on the floor, awake, and was the best and quickest Anesthesiologist they have.   Once in the delivery room they put in the IV and got antibiotics going as quick as possible. I was StrepB positive so in normal circumstances I am supposed to get 2 doses of antibiotics, one at least 4 hours before delivery but with how fast things were progressing they were just glad that they had time to get 1 dose in before baby came.  From there it was all really fast. I remember pushing a few times and out came little Damon!  So relieved and happy to have him here.  We didn't get much sleep that night so the next day we tried to sleep but you know how it is in hospitals. They are always bugging you for something. We were hoping to be able to go home that evening on the 1st, but because I hadn't received the 2 doses of antibiotics during labor and because I Was strep positive the have protocol that you have to stay 48 hours. uugghh.. for the babies safety so we obliged.   Because we were staying a little longer than hoped, Grandma Penny brought the other 3 kids in to the hospital to meet their new little brother. It was so fun to see them love and kiss and just adore their new brother.  Having siblings is truly a blessing.  We were able to leave on the 2nd later in the day-- even though it hadn't been the 48 hours- Thank you Doctor.

Love at first site!! The kids adored everything about baby Damon.
Lincoln was a pretty proud big brother.

 The cutest big sister around.

Grandma Penny needed her turn as well.
What a sweet blessing Damon is already in our lives!  Love our 4 kiddos.
