4 hours for Wrestling?

You all know that Adam LOVES wrestling. Sometimes I think love is an understatement. Anyway it just happens that he has a very good friend from high school that still wrestles competitively at a very high level.  So when Adam heard that his friend would be wrestling at the World Team Trials in Council Bluffs, Iowa he was going to make the trip happen. No matter what.  At first I said he could go by himself but after being made felt slightly guilty I agreed to take the 4 hour drive to the other side of Iowa to watch wrestling... for an entire straight day.

The things you do for your spouse.  :)  I now understand the word sacrifice. Well I thought I was sacrificing my free Sat. by replacing it by watching hours of men(and women) in tights wrestling each other to the floor. I ended up enjoying my time more than I thought I would.  I don't know if it is the actual wrestling that I am starting to enjoy, but maybe more that the competitive atmosphere. I love picking my favorites and watching how they do through the day.  Nothing better than competition. Adam loved it all and Justin (Adam's friend) ended up winning his weight class. So he will now be representing the World.  So def. a trip worth taking.

While we were on the other side of the state we made sure to check out a few other sites:
  • We stayed in Omaha, NE with some of our friends.  It was fun to see the Petersons and visit with them a bit. I loved Omaha-- such a cool city.
  • Omaha had their annual 'Taste of Omaha'. Food, music, and rides. We always seem to find random festivals here in the midwest to go to.
  • Adam has a Great Aunt that we have been doing family history work for. She and her husband happened to be buried near Council Bluffs so we went to check out the cemetery. Always neat to see names of ancestors on their headstones. My Hot Husband!
  • Made a quick stop at the Winter Quarters Temple.
This picture is supposed to be us in front of the temple. (Never trust a complete stranger to take adequate pictures- even though we clearly stated we wanted the whole temple in the background).
There is also a wonderful Mormon Trek Museum Center that had some great stuff and stories on the Mormon's trek west.

One last thing.....  can I just say that I am LOVING the summer.  I love that both Adam and I get off work and we don't have to worry about homework. I love that we have weekends off to travel and explore all the 'cool' places here in the midwest. I'm really trying to savor all the summer moments cause I know they won't last forever!

Marci---that is so funny that you got into the wrestling. I could totally see it! That actually sounds way fun. And I love the picture with no temple- so funny. Little mini trips like that are so fun. I bet you are loving Iowa now that it is warm. :) Miss you! When do I get to see you next??

You should invest in a tripod. It was the best $35 bucks I have ever spent. I hate having strangers take pictures of us because they always turn out horrible!
