the day finally arrived. I was leaving Boston.... Boston really has become my home. I have loved so many things about this place. The experiences I have had here have shaped who I am today. I have made so many amazing friends, worked with so many great people, and have realized that every individual is special in their own way. I love the diversity that is in Boston.... it has taught me to love all people. I am not only goint to miss the diversity of people that Boston has to offer but also the diversity of FOOD!! I love food... and being a food lover, boston is the place to be. I now realize what REAL GOOD FOOD taste like. Along with the food and friends I have found in Boston, I am going to miss the Red Sox almost more than anything. I must admit that I am a true sox fan. I love to go to the games, but since my budget doesnt allow me to go to all the games I am content with watching them on my tv, going to a sports bar to catch the game, or just reading about them the next day. I never thought that I would be one to become so involved with a sports team but I can say that I feel like many of the players are my friends. haha.. I dont know what I am going to do without NESN (new england sports network) that broadcasts every sox game.
Well anyway... I made sure my last week in Boston was packed with all of my favorite things... I tried to document with pictures ... but I missed a few of the events!! Enjoy.
Thursday: Celtics Rollin' Rally. WORLD CHAMPIONS. These are pics I took down at the parade with all of the players!!
Friday: Jo and I headed to Newport, RI. We went to the cliff walk where all the mansions are, and then ate at Flos Clam Shack... Flo wasn't kidding when she claimed to have the best seafood Rhode Island and in AMERICA... my shrimp and Jo's Fish and Chips were amazing. The view from the upper deck wasnt too bad as well. Afterwards we went and walked down on Newbury street!!
Saturday: Spent time with lots of friends. I went to a bridal shower for a friend... and then had a BBQ celebrating Brian & Aly and Jason and Luara's engagements! So fun to chat with so many of the great people I have become friends with over the past two years.
Sunday: Last day of church at the Longfellow Park first ward!! A little weird to think that I will no longer be attending church in Cambridge. It has been a great ward... the bishopric... the teachers... and my friends... all will be missed. Later in the evening... Tristan, Emily, Jo, and I drove out to the beach and watched the sun go down. I never had much of a love for the ocean... but over the past two years I have realized how much I love the ocean. Hearing the water and waves crashing against the shore always brings me a feeling of calmness.
Monday: RED SOX game and dinner at Cask'n Flagon(rated #2 sports bar in the country) haha.. I had the best spinach and artichoke dip with pita bread I have ever had (and I have had a lot). there is nothing better than starting off a night with good food and then spending a cool evening at Fenway with two of my great friends.. JoAnna and Blair. Up to this point I hadnt gotten too sad about any one thing til I thought that it would probably be a long while before I would be sitting back at Fenway watching the sox.
Me, Blair, and JoAnna... I already miss you guys and our good times watching the games. Blair you better keep me posted over the summer.
Tuesday: The beach.. everyone else had to work so Jo and I headed to Nahant beach to get some rays and enjoy the beauty! Afterwards we ate at a little restaurant overlooking the ocean. Delicious! what was even more delicious was that later in the evening I went to the Northend and at at Giacamos Italian Restaurant. AFter eating such amazing Italian food in Boston, Italian food just isnt going to be the same. Although the food was amazing, the best part of the night was when we were waiting outside in line to eat and Boston decided to have a freakin' mini hurricane. It was crazy!! We were all completely drenched... my umbrella was shredded... and Jo even had to buy new pants because she had khakis on(and they were a little see through). It was one of those memories that you will never forget. I made sure the stop on by Mikes Pastries one last time and get a cannoli. Cannolis really are heaven sent. So Thank you Italy!
Wednesday: This was my last full day in Boston so I awoke early and went down to the Charles river to go running and take pictures. The Charles river is one place that I have found where I can really be at peace. If I need time alone to just ponder or be alone I head to the Charles. Just sitting on the shore or running along the edge always brings me peace and serenity. The charles will be missed.
Later a group of my friends and I went to Jose's... I hadnt really found any really great mexican food since being in boston so when i heard about Jose's I thought it would be the perfect way to end my time in Boston. I was not dissappointed. it was great food... and the fried ice cream topped it all off perfectly. I could not have asked for a better last night in Boston.
GOODBYE BOSTON!! You will be missed.
Thursday: Lola (my car) was packed full and ready to go... even Karen (my tv) fit. Off we went on our 5-day cross country road trip..... (that story to be continued)
