One of the things on our to-do list of things we wanted to do in Kentucky was go to the ‘Kentucky Derby.’ The Derby isn’t for one more month so we weren’t even able to witness the craziness of it all. As a second best option we went to the Kentucky Derby Museum and a Tour of Churchill Downs. I am sure it was nothing compared to going to the actual derby but it was neat all the same to see and learn about horse racing and everything that goes down on Derby Day.

It's been a little bit of a crazy week or so-- and Yes we are moving to St. George.. in one week! So soon--- and although we are very sad to be leaving Kentucky just as we really felt settled and Loving it here we are Super excited to be living closer to family and for Adam's new job! We will always have a little place in our hearts for the little time we spent here and for the wonderful people that became our friends in Kentucky! So why this decision? Well Adam's old employer contacted him asking if he would be interested in taking a position with them. It was a great opportunity for him and he really loved his old job and the people he worked with--- so after some pondering, praying, and looking at all the pros and cons of both places we feel like St. George is the best place for us. It all came pretty sudden so the last week we've been staying busy with moving arrangements and starting to pack. Boo. I hate packing.
We have also been enjoying the WONDERFUL spring weather. I have loved it!

I was going through some things on facebook that I had posted and came upon this.... ‘25 Random Things About Me’which I completed on Feb.4th, 2009. I wanted to have a record of it on my blog... so here it is. With edits and comments about me today{in italics and green}.
Rules: Write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you.
1. I can’t remember a day when I didn't eat breakfast... {except a few occasions when I was traveling or staying with friends that don't believe in the most important meal of the day}. I love BREAKFAST food.Still so very true.
2. I have a real bad habit of speeding. Just check out my driving record.. far from perfect.Proud to say that my driving record is almost clean... I think in April it will be 3 years since my last ticket! Yay!
3. I was the hoop shoot champion when I was in 7th grade. Pretty sure I made 23 out of 25 free throws at the competition. I have a trophy to prove it. Wish I still had those skills.
4. I could be perfectly happy having no responsibility at all. {I have realized this over the past 6 months of unemployment}.I love the responsibilities that I currently have as a Mom, wife, and homemaker-- like taking care of Lincoln, keeping our little home, and making dinners for my boys.
5.The Charles River in Boston is one of my favorite places... ever.Oh how I miss the Charles. I could use a good run along it right now.
6. I think I am pretty athletic. I did play basketball and softball in high school. Even ran cross-country for a year... although it about killed me. I would have never thought that I would get into running in my 20s. Still love the challenge of running.
7. I don't really like the whole LDS singles social scene. I do make an effort to go to activities and get to know people... but it will be a happy day when I don't have to do that anymore.I am definitely glad that I am married, but looking back to all my single years--- I really do cherish all the memories that I made during those times. I did some of the most fun, exciting, and wonderful things and made some of the very best friends. I def. am glad I had so many wonderful years of being single.
8. I became Scuba Dive Certified while I was attending Dixie State College. Gotta love Junior Colleges and the great slacker classes I was able to take while I was enrolled there.Wish I had the time and money to go scuba diving now!
9. Although I am a dietitian, and should be eating healthy all the time, I have more than my share of unhealthy treats and food. Everything in moderation... Right?Still can't deny that I have a very sweet tooth--
10. I am obsessed with cream of wheat with raisins and honey. {see #1} pretty sure I could eat it every day.I go in phases with cream of wheat.. still love the stuff.
11. I think sky miles are one of the greatest things credit card companies and the airlines have ever come up with. Thank you Delta and United for many free flights.And mostly thank you to papa Sheldon for allowing me to use the sky miles on occasion.
12. I love dressing up; it doesn't have to be Halloween to transform into something you are not.Not that I have Lincoln I think I will like to dress him up more than me doing the dressing up.
13. I hate having a dirty kitchen {and fridge}. I don't understand why it is so hard for people to rinse of their dishes after they are done eating or cooking or wiping up when they spill something in the fridge.Still so true. There aren't a lot of times that you will find dirty dishes lying around my kitchen.
14. I gave the commencement speech at my Master's Graduation... not because I was smart but pretty sure I was the only one willing to do it.I still don't believe that I did this.
15. I am secure enough in myself that I don't mind sitting by myself, going to movies alone, or chillin' by myself on a weekend night.
16. I could listen to Chic music all day long. {Tristan Prettyman, Amy Kuney, Lenka, Regina Spektor, Meg & Dia, Brandi Carlisle, Trisha Cheney, Erin McKeon, Celine Dion... and lots more} ... basically any chic that knows how to rock it.Don't really listen to a whole lot of music anymore.... although I do catch myself listening to the country station quite often in the car.
17. I have a small obsession with the Red Sox. Last Sept. I flew back to Boston for 4 days. 3 of those days were spent at Fenway Park, the Sox, and two of the greatest friends ever. Best trip ever.Still Love the Sox... I don't see that changing any time soon.
18. I can get pretty into my workout... I love to sweat... that way I know I am working hard.I love a good challenge-- and a good workout is a good challenge.
19. I spent a summer in Haiti loving the sweetest little orphaned children in this world. I contemplated smuggling a couple of the babies back home with me.Still want a little Haitian baby- maybe someday.
20. FEAR is one of my greatest Weaknesses.Still a weakness but I def. have worked on this...
21. I still have boxes of notes that my friends and I wrote to each other in middle and high school. They are some of the funniest things you will ever read. The things that go through high schoolers minds.Every time I move I go through these and get so many good laughs.
22. I love to drive and drive and drive on long roadtrips. I have driven for 12+ straight hours multiple times in the past 2 years.Still love road trips and have gone on many many more (mostly around the midwest) since I initially wrote this. 23. I love to read; but I must say I am guilty on occasion of reading random, pointless, pathetic, love novels. Sometimes you just need a book where you don't have to think at all.Lately I haven't been reading as much as I would like to-- although Adam and I have been started to read books out loud to each other... we finished the Hunger Game Series and even the 1st Harry Potter book. Next on the list is 'A Tale of Two Cities.'
24. I can relate to the guy on Fever Pitch to a degree. The first date with my current bf{yes that was Adam} consisted of watching the Red Sox on tv... cause I couldn't miss a playoff game because of a date. {I didn't care that he could care less about the Sox} {see #17}The only thing that has changed here is that Adam is now a Huge Red Sox fan as well.
25. I have a really really really hard time saying no when people ask me to do something, even if I don't want to do it. {see #14}Still feel like I should say Yes to everything I am asked to do... that's not a bad thing right?
Remember how in the last post I mentioned how fabulous Kentucky is because we haven't really had any snow and it has been getting so nice and warm... well we had a little bit of a random snow storm. We went to bed one night and the next morning we awoke to a good 3-4 inches of fresh snow. It was the first snow storm where the snow actually stuck around longer than a couple of hours.
Lincoln had never been in the snow so we decided to venture out to the back patio. He wasn't a huge fan {probably because it was pretty cold and we don't really have any proper winter attire for him- notice the plastic bag shoes and only one glove}.
He enjoyed it much more looking from the inside.
The snow didn't last too long and we are back to sunny day!! Yay!
Lincoln turned 11 months old on Leap Day.. my little baby is growing up. Here's what our week looked like...... and info about Lincoln over the last month.
*Friday we had a Tornado scare.. lots of wind, rain, and hail but luckily it missed us but hit North and West of us pretty hard- our prayers go out to those that were affected. We were ready to cram into our little room under the stairs if we needed to.
*Other than that the weather has been awesome. We really are Loving Kentucky for so many reasons. Spring is def. in the air. Lincoln was able to play outside, crawl around in the grass, and had his first taste of dirt-- which he didn't mind one bit.
*Lincoln is getting pretty darn good at standing up on his own. Pretty good at walking with his walker too but still doesn't seem to confident to try to take any steps on his own.
*Has found that taking everything out of the cupboards or rolling all the toilet paper off of the roll is pretty fun mom doesn't quite agree.
*We love how ticklish he is. I just have to hold my fingers up and pretend that I am going to tickle his neck and he starts laughing.
*His favorite 'naughty' thing to do is climb up on our fireplace hearth and stick his hand in and grab the little pebbles. It is never on so it's not hot but it still gets his fingers all black(notice in the pic). Mom gets pretty impatient at pulling him off of there all day long.
*Has started to enjoy reading (well turning the pages) books by himself. His favorite is a lift the flap book 1st Bible because it has lots of things to open and close.
*I laugh out loud multiple times a day at the things he does.
*He now has 4 teeth-- he went from 0 last month to 4 now. Still barely visible but they are there.
*He has become quite the eater--- he rarely eats actual baby food... mostly just table food. He def. prefers to feed himself and although I am surprised at how much he actually gets in his mouth he still leaves quite a mess for Mom and Dad to clean up after him. I think banana's are his favorite(well maybe one of his favorites). I ask him if he wants a 'banana' and he gets excited. Pretty sure he would eat a banana for every meal if I let him have one.
-Lincoln has ringworm- yes parents of the year right here. We're not sure how he got it but Adam new exactly what it was the second they started because apparently wrestlers get them all the time which according to Adam means that Lincoln is destined to be a wrestler. We'll see. :)
-Speaking of wrestling, this weekend was the Big Ten Wrestling Tournament, so that means Adam has been glued to reading blogs, websites, and watching or listening to the wrestling matches. Lincoln of course had to sport his Iowa gear and watch wrestling with Dad. Fun for me.
*Adam and I have started to get a bit more serious about working out. We started 'Body Rock' and after three weeks, I can tell that I am getting stronger and more fit than ever. I like that it focuses on simple exercises that I know work. And I love that I can do it in my house. Check it out-- and yes she is pretty scandalous (ignore that part of it) but I guess you know her exercises work with a body like that.
*Other than that we do our typical routine. Adam to work and me hanging with Lincoln. I try to stay busy by trying lots of new recipes, little crafty stuff here and there, and relief society stuff. Life is Good!

Let's just say it started out pretty good but Thursday night things got messy.... as in no sleep, baby fussy, high fever, crying kind of messy. Not fun for parents and especially not fun for baby.
We took him into the Doctor on Friday and sure enough ear infection in both ears{this is the 2nd time he has had them. I hope it doesn't become a common occurrence}-- plus he had the beginnings of a cold. The poor little guy was a mess to say the least. Oh ya he also had a yeast diaper infection. It looked painful. We felt like the worst parents in the world--- but the Doctor saved the day and 3 prescriptions later Lincoln was a happy little guy again. Thank goodness for modern day medication. He is now back to his busy little self again. Thank Goodness because I hate seeing him in pain.

We finally realized that the only way we were going to get any sleep was to have him sleep in with us.... It sort of worked.
This was on Sunday- still not feeling all that peachy. He stayed home from Sacrament and Sunday School but we had responsibilities in RS/Priesthood so the little trooper went to church.
Here he his watching his TV. His little pose was too cute and funny not to take a picture of. Lincoln loves TV... well he loves his BABY FIRST tv. Best channel ever for babies. For all you Moms with babies and toddlers check it out- it's called the 'Baby First' channel (we have it on Direct TV). Lots of learning and educational programs. They have baby exercises, signing time, matching, story time, puzzles, activities and No commercials. And best of all it keeps him entertained.
One of his weird sleeping positions. He moves constantly in his sleep. He is never is the same position. I guess sitting up is as good as any?
DOn't you love the sweater? Adam says that he along with some of his siblings wore it. Pretty styling right?! I think I'll keep it as an inside the house sweater. :)
Lincoln is quite the mover--- so it's no big deal when he moves right out of his pants.
We are so grateful to have our happy little man back, even if it does mean no cuddle time and me having to watch him every second so he isn't getting into everything he isn't supposed to be.
We had a pretty relaxing week... can't believe it is Feb.
Lincoln and I have been hanging out lots while Adam works.
-Last Monday I received a fun package from some of my favorite people in Iowa City. Thank You Annie, William, and Kate for the bowls. I Love them!!
-Over Christmas break I convinced Adam to read the Hunger Games. I wanted him to read it before the movie came out. What really happened was that I read it aloud to him on our drive from St. George to SLC and back-- but he liked the first book! So when we got back to Kentucky he wanted to read the next two. We finally got around to reading the 2nd one together this week and it's a lot of fun!
-Thursday we started a fun music class for Lincoln that we get together with other young kids and their moms. Lincoln loves it-- especially just being with the other kids.
-Sat. I got my hair cut. Nothing too drastic but it is above my shoulders. It was def. needed!
-Sunday. Don't my boys look handsome?
Also a few weeks ago I got a new calling as RS Secretary so I have been busy with that and enjoying getting to know many more sisters in our ward.
-Lincoln finally had his first tooth surface... and he started to walk with his walker. Yes he resembles an old man that is walking with a walker. haha. He clearly has a long way to go before he is walking on his own.
-Lincoln found this mirror pretty interesting.
We also started our babysitting swap this past week. So three days a month Lincoln gets to go and hang out with other kids while we get to go out! The other Sat of the month we watch the other kids! Not only is this good for Lincoln to get watched by others and to play with other kids but it is good for us as parents to let others watch him. Plus we get the bonus of going out more!
